The Macroeconomics, Trade and Investment Global Practice of the World Bank (MTI) is the home of the World Bank Group ‘s country economists, macroeconomics and trade experts, providing integrative development strategies, policy-based lending, macro data, global perspectives, real-time policy analysis, country risk assessments, and projections. The MTI team in the Sub-Saharan Africa region is providing lending operations, policy analysis and economic monitoring for a range of IBRD and IDA client across the continent. 

In Angola and São Tomé and Príncipe, the VWorld Bank is providing both financing (through development policy operations) as well as technical support and knowledge products to the governments of both countries.

To support this effort, build a pipeline of future talent, and strengthen the relationship with Universities in Angola and São Tomé and Principe, the MTI team is starting an internship program to attract highly motivated individuals to give them an opportunity to be exposed to the mission and work of the World Bank.

The internship allows individuals to bring new perspectives, innovative ideas and research experience into the Bank’s work, while improving skills in a diverse environment. In addition, it is a great way to enhance CVs with practical work experience.

 

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  • Undergraduate degree in economics, or related areas with superior academic record. Candidates attending the last academic year of the undergraduate course are also eligible;
  • Be born on or after January 1, 1993.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Portuguese required;
  • Good interpersonal and team working skills;
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-moving environment, meet tight deadlines with professionlism, work extensive hours as needed:

APPLICATION PROCESS

The potential candidates should send an e-mail including their Curriculum Vitae (CV), Statement of Interest, Proof of enrollment or completion of an undergraduate degree to luandamp@worldbank.org with title “Application to the MTI Internship Program.” Deadline for application Friday, October 31, 2023.

Only the shortlisted candidates will be submitted for tests and interviews. Candidates who fail to provide all the required information will not proceed to the next stages of the selection process.

 

DURATION

The internship program will be for a total of 60 working days during Fiscal Year 2024. The internship program will run until June 30, 2024. This is a remunerated program under a Short-Term Temporary contract. The intern will be based in Luanda, and supervised by the Country Economist for Angola and São Tomé and Príncipe, Nelson Eduardo.
